Care Proceedings and
involvement with
Social Services:
We can represent you
if you are a parent,
somebody with
parental
responsibility for
the child, a
relative such as a
grandparent or
aunt/uncle or a very
close friend of the
family and you
require legal advice
about Social Service
involvement.
We offer
representation in
pre issue
discussions with the
Local Authority,
Emergency Protection
Orders, Care
Proceedings and
applications made in
existing
proceedings.
Cases involving
children commenced
by the Local
Authority are Public
Law Proceedings
under the Children
Act 1989. They are
referred to as Care
Proceedings. When
Social Services
become involved with
your family this can
be a difficult and
confusing time. At
Carr Hepburn our
Childcare team can
offer you support
and advice about
your options and the
legal procedure.
We can advise you
through all stages
of the Care
Proceedings, this
includes
pre-proceedings
issues such as
attending pre-issue
meetings with
clients and the
social workers. Once
Care Proceedings
have been issued,
public funding is
automatic for
parents and others
with Parental
Responsibility. We
also offer public
funding at other
stages which is
subject to
eligibility.
If you are not
eligible for public
funding we offer
very competitive
rates. Please
contact us if you
require any
information about
your public funding
eligibility or
assess your
eligibility at

We pride ourselves
on the service we
offer and the good
working relationship
we have with our
clients and other
professionals.
